About my school :

Chail Military School Chail is a residential school established after the First World War in 1922 with a generous donation of Rs 250,000 from King George V patriotic fund. The foundation stone of the school was laid by the then Prince of Wales King George V (George Frederick Ernest Albert) in Feb 1922. The school started functioning at Jalandhar Cantonment in 1925. Since then cadets are known as "GEORGIANS".

Chail Military School is the oldest Military School in India . Along with its sister institute now located in Jhelum Pakistan , Chail Military School was named as King George Royal Indian Military School after the King George V (Prince of Wales). After the First World War in Feb 1922 foundation stone of the school and regular classes were started in Sep 1925 at Jalandhar Cant in Punjab.

School was founded with the aim of imparting free education to the sons of JCOs, NCOs and ORs to prepare them for the various Army Examinations including the Indian Special Certificate of Education. The entire curriculum of the school was based on Military requirements with English as a medium of instruction. The original strength of the school was 250 and the staff consisted mostly of military personnel.

During the Second World War the school was designated as College. One hundred more cadets were admitted under the expansion scheme. The eligibility norms were relaxed to facilitate enrolment of near relatives of Army personnel and admissions were thrown open to all branches of armed forces. At that time, College was affiliated to the Panjab University for matriculation and intermediate examinations. This institution produced a large number of Officers.

After independence, it was felt that these schools should impart liberal education and should have a wider social basis. The King George Royal Indian Military College was renamed as King George School and shifted to Nowgong (Bundelkhand) in Aug 1952 where it was house in Old Kitchner College buildings. School was reorganized in Sep 1952 and half of the seats of total of 300 were thrown open to the wards of civilians and armed forces officers. In the same year school was also made the member of Indian Public School Conference (IPSC).

The King George School was relocated to its current location in Chail in Himachal Pradesh in July 1960. It was renamed as Chail Military School, Chail. Cadets are now prepare for senior school certificate examination of the central board of secondary education, New Delhi and it is no longer obligatory for them to join the Defence forces.

In 2007, Chail Military School along with its sister institutes Bangalore Military School (Karnataka), Belgaum Military School (Karnataka), Ajmer Military School (Rajasthan) and Dholpur Military School (Rajasthan) were renamed as Rashtriya Military Schools of India.

Aims of the School

To prepare cadets from the age of 10 to 18 years academically for the All India Secondary School Examination and All India Senior School Certificate Examination, New Delhi and also for Entrance Examination to the National Defence Academy.

To provide healthy and sound education environment without any religious inhibitions and prejudices.

To develop in them those qualities of mind, body and character which enable them to become good and useful citizens of India.

Friends and Friendship

This picture was taken in 1994, when I was only 17 Years old. Posing with Mahesh Choudhary ( Tinu) and Rajendra Sharma ( Raju). Yes, friends are forever. Making a million friends is not a miracle. The miracle is to find few friends who will stand by you when millions are standing against you.

A Sweet poem for my dear friends...

When I cry you help me out
When I'm happy you hear me shout
When I grin you know I'm really mad
because you are my best friend
You can tell when I'm sad

You're there in thick and thin
You're my best friend
You hear me out when I want to talk
You help me out when I get mad
You are the bestest friend I've ever had

So hear me out when I say
You're the light in my day
You are the moon in my night
You shine very bright
You are the bestest friend I have
and I miss you

Pearls of Wisdom

A devotee asked Budha, “I Want Peace
Budha smiled and said:
First, Remove “I
That’s - EGO
Then, Remove “Want
That’s – DESIRE
After that,
PEACE comes automatically.

Need of Humanism and Self Realisation

Humanism is the spirit of good life for all with peace and Harmony. Humanism is simply not a word but is the base of mankind on which humans on earth can survive in villages ,cities of all continents and oceans .

Self Realization that we are Human and should behave like good human to all as life is uncertain, any second our organ can stop working and well be out of the world. So be happy, work positively and look after family nation and save mankind from becoming demon kind.

We should not take our life as granted and should consider as if we are living on a planet which is actually a natural satellite of the galaxy and everything is moving like a space ship and we should consider earth as a huge space ship which god has created for humans to live happily and to behave like good humans who do not harm others. We as persons have a duty towards our mother earth that we will live like human and will not harm any other human and it is very simple to follow . If we make a new year resolution that we will live like good human , will not fight with any person in front or at back and will not do anything which can cause pain to any person and if we stick to this resolution then our earth will become a very good place like heaven to live on .We should take real care of our parents + other family members , should follow Live and Let Live logic and should do positive work on the earth . We should keep our promises given to our parents as a human who keep promise is actually a human .

In modern world it is not important that what a person is doing for himself but the most important need of the hour is that we humans start behaving like good humans in real sense of divine word or in a way like a good child who does his work and does not interfere in others life . In modern world many people have cease to become human's and this is the root cause of all social problems, like criminalization , terrorism , murders, politics in joint family in all villages , cities and on the universe .

All the major problems of the world is because some people think that they are lords of the worlds terrorists (real + invisible )or region or city or village and can do anything and all act done by them are very good even if they harm others directly or in directly .they think that they are super human and will live forever, but truth is different .I personally consider that if any person is doing harm to others in any way , then that person is also a terrorist .A person should have self realization that God has made every person with some good purpose so we should behave with one and all in humanistic manner In many parts of the world people have become demons in real sense only difference they do not look a real demon of old time but they cause harm or mental injury to others repeatedly . They think that their bad action will not be accounted , there is saying that whatever action good or bad you are doing on earth you have to face the result of that past action in old age or after death .

The Role of Public Schools in Fostering 21st Century Skills

In the time of globalization, the educationists need to anticipate and understand the global trends and bring in a genuine understanding of their dynamics. The challenge to prepare tomorrow's mind has increased manifold, more because our roots are somewhere lying in the Gurukul education system whereas we seek to search ourselves in the new arena of opportunities. The role of public schools has consequently swelled. Today, it has come in conflict - conflict of handling the faith in the society, conflict of treating and curing future to nobody's feeling of resentment.

To give example of our school, I recall the days when people with doubtful eyes had their very first question on their lips about the stagnant things around in Gotan, erasing the possibility of any fruitful growth. In fact, they were not to be blamed. No proper water facility, dusty roads, a few strokes of dreary shops had probably become the definition of Gotan, impacting somewhere the growth of the school also. To think of improvement and innovations to meet challenges was far fetched. But the role of fostering skills did not die in the character of our school and with the pass of every year the school established its faith and not only we grew step by step but Gotan has also grown with us. Journeying through the wayside halts towards commitment to the society and managing success in multiple tasks we have understood that fostering the new generation skills need 'variety and multiplicity' as a catchword.

Today, when the school has grown and has learnt to count its steps I strongly feel the walk needs to be all the more careful. Everybody who visits our campus can't help being pleased with the kind of infrastructure and facility. But for me, finding a silver lining in the clouds and adding impetus to the carry-forward of the responsibility of looking after the children – both academically and collectively becomes more important for me. This probably should be the case of most public schools in one way or the other.

It is true that the leafy surrounding with blooming flowers, clean junior and senior blocks, fountain soaring towards the blue, adding beauty to the campus and modernized classrooms, lecture theatre and the hospitality are some of the things that encourage buoyant popularity of schools but this is also true that over every year the admission chapters get enlarged with good to better students not simply because of only infrastructural flanks but due to the distinction between stressing on learning and on growth. Only those schools have seen their graph going up which has believed in the concept of growth, and not simply learning. This has given me a strong reason to believe that public schools are catalyzing growth in evergreen –exuberance sense as most of the public schools are on the path of smart growth.

The mission is to produce educated men of good character, prepared for both scholastic achievements in schools and productive citizenship in adult society. Fortunately, public schools, despite their strength and credentials keep striving to achieve this mission through a four-fold process - first and most importantly, by challenging and encouraging each student, in the nurturing environment to develop academically to his maximum potential. Second, through competitive sports and a variety of extracurricular activities, each student is helped to develop his physical fitness and leadership skills, and his respect for others regardless of their origin, cultures or beliefs. Third, by involvement in the care of campus home, civic duty is learned, along with a sense of dignity of honest labor. Finally, through time to time participation in activities, each student learns sustaining value of faith and spiritual growth throughout his life.

Students must be given exciting opportunities to grow and be motivated to value themselves as competent learners. No matter whatever changes come but the need of the society for a school which along with fostering and meeting new challenges, can provide accountability, empowerment and elite sustenance in the new developments in various field so that the students enrolled can land in career goals successfully. Focusing this will surely add up to understanding the role of public schools in fostering 21st century skills.
